Eye Care

Eye Exams
Most of us fear losing vision above all other forms of disability.  Routine annual eye exams are an important part of maintaining quality healthcare. We use the latest technology to assess and diagnosis your visual function and health in order to treat and preserve your precious gift of sight.

Examinations include tests for vision acuity, visual fields, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, corneal abnormalities and eye muscle disorders to name a few.  Retinal evaluations are conducted utilizing the latest generation Optomap scanning ophthalmoscope which makes pupil dilation unnecessary in most cases.  To learn more about this technology, follow this link www.optomap.com

New diagnostic technology allows for high order aberrations, blur and glare previously not correctable, to be evaluated.  For some of us, high order aberration correction lenses provide a level of vision we have never experienced.  For more information, follow this link www.izonlens.com

At Southwest Vision, we take the time to discuss your activities that tax your eyes.  Computers can stress your eyes and cause many ocular as well as overall symptoms.  Sport activities such as golf, cycling or water sports may be enhanced with the proper eyewear.

Upon completion of the examination, we will discuss with you what type of vision correction options are best suited for your needs and lifestyle.  Your eye health and vision quality are our primary focus.

We are lucky to live in the Austin area but it is not called the “Allergy Capital of the World” for nothing.  Allergic reactions can make your eyes uncomfortable, contact lens wear difficult and increase your risk for infection.  Ask us about the latest proven techniques in reducing your risk.  For more information, follow the link to www.pataday.com

Dry eyes have many causes such as advancing age, allergies, computer use, anticholinergic medications, hormonal changes, contact lens use and autoimmune disorders to name a few.  Treatments include surface lubricants, prescription eye drops to promote tear production, and punctual plugs to increase tear volume.  For more information, please follow links to www.systane.com and www.restasis.com
